EL CAMINO REAL DE TIERRA ADENTRO TRAIL ASSOCIATION

— CHRONICLES OF THE TRAIL —

Vol. 1 No. 1 January — March 2005

CARTA has completed and distributed the inaugural edition of its quarterly journal, Chronicles of the Trail. It includes a message and association news from CARTA President George D. Torok; a fine article, “Pray for Me, I Travel the Camino Real,” by John L. Kessel, Professor Emeritus of History and founding editor of the Vargas Project at the University of New Mexico and author of Spain in the Southwest: A Narrative History of Colonial New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, and California; an overview article of the Chíhuahua Trail by Jay W. Sharp, editor of the journal; and brief report on the Second International CARTA Conference, September 10 and 11, by CARTA Secretary William M. Little.

For the future, we are lining up a broad diversity of articles which we think will whet your appetite for exploring the trail. Additionally, we expect to continue with the President’s Message and CARTA News. As soon as practicable, we will add columns on trail sites, historic events and famous travelers, and we will begin to include news on organizations, events and volunteer opportunities along the trail.
