In the October — December 2006, Vol. 2, No. 4, edition of the Chronicles of the Trail, Patrick H. Beckett, CARTA President, updates us on recent events. (See “President’s Message,” in "News.") We report on the September 6, 2006, dedication of the Taylor-Barela-Reynolds-Mesilla State Monument at Mesilla, New Mexico, an event made possible by the generous donation of the J. Paul Taylor family (See the story in “News”). Jean Fulton of Cornerstones Community Partnerships in Santa Fe tells about some recent developments at the ancient Isleta Pueblo, on El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro, a few miles south of Albuquerque. We present a series of vignettes of Santa Fe, observations of early visitors to the city. Jay W. Sharp, editor of Chronicles of the Trail, presents a profile of a composite pioneer woman who traveled El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro to settle in the West.
