Message from the CARTA
Executive Director

Welcome to El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro Trail Association’s webpage! I encourage you to peruse these pages to learn more about the trail association and the types of events and programs we sponsor. During your visit, please review issues of Chronicles of the Trail, our award-winning publication. Biographical sketches of the Board of Directors are available to learn more about us.

CARTA enjoys a productive relationship with the Bureau of Land Management and the National Park Service, as well as organizations such as the El Paso Mission Trail Association; the San Elizario Genealogy and Historical Society in San Elizario, Texas; El Rancho de las Golondrinas in Santa Fe, New Mexico; Casa San Ysidro in Corrales, New Mexico; and El Camino Real Historic Trail Site in southern Socorro County, New Mexico. With members in the United States, Mexico, and Spain, CARTA advocates for the promotion and protection of the former Spanish Colonial route connecting Mexico City to Santa Fe, New Mexico—an international cultural resource of great significance! Please enjoy your visit and contact us should you have any questions or comments.
