On March 1, 2013, the CARTA office was relocated from the Southwest Environmental Center Building in Las Cruces, New Mexico, to Los Lunas, New Mexico. Initially, CARTA maintained its office in the Transportation Center before later occupying office space at the Los Lunas Visitors Center near the intersection of NM Highway 47 and NM Highway 6 (Main Street) on the east side of the Village of Los Lunas (see map above). Rightfully, the Visitors Center stands along a segment of the route of the historic El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro that originally linked Tomé to sites toward the north, including Isleta Pueblo, Albuquerque, Bernalillo, and beyond.
